Right in the historical centre, in the very heart of the
ancient Hebraic Ghetto of Ferrara, there is a restaurant opened
in March 2002, wich proposes a carefully made local and seasonal
cooking.
The speciality of the restaurant, that offers however a varied
selection of starters and of first coursesamong them you can
always have the traditional rigorously hand-made pumpkin “cappellacci”
of Ferrara, is without doubt meat. Tender fillets of beef,
horse and pork are always in the menu and in certain periods
of the year there are lamb, wild bear, deer, duck and pheasant.
There are always mushrooms in their season and dessert are
really remarkable: they are all of our production, and they
are really well presented by the Chef. The basket of short
pastry stuffed with mascarpone(a rich Italian cream cheese)
with strawberry flavour and chestnut-tree honey has always
been appreciated by all the guests. The choice can become
very difficult if you have to choose among rice and milk pudding
with melted bitter chocolate, peach mousse with sweet almond
toffee or the pumpkin flan with lemon English cream.
“La Carte” of wines is very good: there are about
150 different kinds of home and foreign products, from the
first-rate Sangiovesi to the excellent Sassicaia, Brunello,
Amarone and Bordeaux. You can have a look at the wine list
in the special selection. This is a restaurant, but you can
have the possibility of buying bootles of wine even if you
don’t want to have a meal, at a lower price than the
one marked on the list.
Among the service offered in the restaurant, there is the
entry to the disabled people into the dining-room at the ground
floor and the advantage of dining in the open by candlelight
in Spring and Summer, in the narrow street paved with cobblestone
which ancient street-lamps lightly.
Of course the most important credit cards are accepted.
Dogs are admitted in the restaurant on condition that they
don’t disturb the guests.
